FOR THE 42nd year the Garden Club of Virginia, now totaling 44 affiliated clubs, will offer its annual April attraction “Historic Garden Week in Virginia.’’ Historic Garden Week will be featured April 19-27 in the various sections of Virginia.
The tour of The Garden Club of Warren County (Front Royal) will be Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 20 from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and open to the public for the first time will be three homes and one art exhibit.
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Craig A. Livingston, 124 West Stonewall Drive, Front Royal, was built in 1882 and remodeled in 1947 by its present owners. In 1974 a studio was added, and many of Livingston’s watercolors and pencil drawings may be seen throughout the house.
The home of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Moore, Woodcliff.Io reach this house, go six miles south of Front Royal on Route 340 S, turn west off the highway at the sign “Woodclifi,” and follow the 1/2-mile driveway to the house. This unique house was built in 1972, and the building firm received a Northern Virginia Builders Association award for excellence in construction and outstanding craftsmanship performed on this residence. Charles Matheson of The Plains was the architect.
