IN OTHER business before the Supervisors, Tom Helsel from Planning District Nine presented the “comprehensive plan for aging,” drafted during the past nine months by the planning district’s advisory council on aging. Helsel said he only wanted to present the plan to the Supervisors for their consideration. No action was requested until next month, Helsel said. He noted that there will be a public hearing on the aging plan April 14, at the town council building in Culpeper.
Helsel said Rappahannock County has 7.9% of the elderly people in Planning District Nine, and the budget for the program was based on the number of old people in each of the five counties in the district. Rappahannock’s share of the costs of the program for one year would be $105 in cash and $316.54 in “in kind” services.
The comprehensive aging plan would establish an agency that could help older people who were sick, injured or out of work, Helsel said. “This agency would see that the individual was taken care of and help fill out the paper work,” Helsel said.
