Old Hollow is always a favorite spot for fishermen in the spring and swimmers in the summer. This hole near Sperryville afforded some protection from the gale winds which accousted the area. Many trout fishermen camped overnight on Piney Branch in readiness for the trout opening. Campers and tents were anchored along the streams, secured by ropes fastened around tree limbs in face of the wind gusts.
