TRUSTEES of the Sperryville Cemetery Association request that all artificial flowers placed on graves in the cemetery be removed at the end of a two-week period, and that the owners of the lots be responsible for removing these flowers.
Mowing must be done at the cemetery at least every two weeks during the spring-summer seasons, and it is time-consuming and costly to remove the flowers, mow, and then replace them. Each spring before mowing can be started, a great deal of time must be spent cleaning up these flowers which have blown over the grounds, into fence rows, etc. and this additional cleaning adds to the expense of maintenance.
Letters have gone out recently to low owners in the “old” part of the cemetery, asking for a contribution toward a perpetual care fund to help with maintenance of the cemetery on a permanent basis, as well as to make some repairs to the road and grounds.
