WEATHER cooperated with forest fire fighters this year to make the first four months of 1975 one of the best on record, according to John V. Jackson, Assistant District Forester for the 13-county Northern Piedmont District. For the entire District, 143 fires burned 383 acres for an average of 2.7 acres per fire. Whereas a few years have been better, 1975 still would rank among the top for least damage done by forest fires.

For Rappahannock County, five fires burned four acres of forest land.
