petition. About 17 schools were involved. Rappahannock missed first by only the wee margin of 2-3/4 points, and was way above many of our competitors in total points scored.
Bill Taylor took the mile and the two mile again and Jerry Thomas was third in both events. Milton Fletcher was fourth in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump and Raymond Groves fourth in the 100 yard dash and third in the 440. Our mile relay team placed fourth.,
Four of RCHS track men will be participating in the state meet this Saturday. They are Jerry Thomas, Bill Taylor, Raymond Groves and Milton Fletcher.
It has been a really successful season for both our track teams, and next year should be even better. Congratulations, and best of luck at state!!
Trying not to sound repititious, it looks like another one of our teams is having a fine season and that’s.our baseball team. The last two games as of Wednesday morning were with Page County and Warren County high schools. Our Panthers defeated Page 3-0 and were edged out by Warren 7-6.
So far the Panthers are in close competition for the top positions in the district. That will be determined in the final game which is this Thursday at Madison at 1 p.m. We’ve got our fingers crossed and our hopes are high. Go get ’em!D
