Some other actions taken by the Commission included the elimination of a special bow and arrow deer season which had been proposed as an extension of the regular season by about five weeks west of the Blue Ridge; the establishment of a special season for hunting crows and the creation of a 75 pound dressed weight minimum for bears taken in the Commonwealth.
DEER season will open statewide on November 17, 1975, closing (west of the Blue Ridge) November 29, 1975, and (east of the Blue Ridge) on January 5, 1976. Snail game season will open statewide on November 10, 1975. Deer bag limits in particular vary widely throughout the Commonwealth and sportsmen are cautioned to ascertain the exact dates of special seasons and restrictions in effect in some local areas.□
