THE 1976 Book Review Contest of the Rappahannock County Library will start October 1 for Elementary School students and October 5 for High School students. All students who use the Rappahannock Library are eligible to enter.
Last year, 220 Elementary School children entered. An even larger participation is expected this year from both the Rappahannock Elementary and the Wakefield schools. Each pre-high school contestant will read two books to be selected from the Rappahannock Library collection of more than 8,000 books for review.
The contest is designed to teach children how to make a public library function for their own use. Cash prizes, magazine subscriptions and books will be awarded the three winners and the three Honorable Mentions in the 5th6th grade contest and in the 7th grade contet.
Parents are urged to encourage their children to enter the contests because it is an important opportunity for them to get an experience that will be useful throughout their lives. The Rappahannock school system and the teachers have given their full cooperation in preparing the contests .
