COTTON, feeder cattle, hogs, corn and soybean prices dropped during the week ending September 17, reports USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service.
Corn prices trended steady to 15 cents lower, with a cash spread of $2.37 to $3.16. Soybean prices also dropped 41-1/2 to 60 cents with a cash spread of $6.49 to $6.86.
Barrows and gilts at GeorgiaFlorida-Alabama packing plants dropped $1.50 to $2.00. Most cattle prices also declined.
GRAIN—Southeastern corn prices declined moderately while soybeans dropped sharply for the week ending September 17. Corn prices trended steady to 15 cents lower— mostly 4 to 5 cents lower. The cash spread was $2.37 to $3.16 Soybean prices declined 41-1/2 to 60 cents, mostly 50 to 55 cents , lower. The cash spread was $6.49 to $6.86.
Bids to corn producers at southeastern Virginia points closed 4 to 6 cents lower at $2.54 to $2.76 and Richmond, $2.54 to $2.66. Wilson, N.C., sold at $2.37.
