THE Rappahannock County School Board has announced the appointment of a new superintendent of schools, William Jefferson Bloomer, currently director of Vocational Education for Nelson County. He was appointed to a four year term effective July 1, succeeding O.A. Norton, who is retiring. Bloomer has been an administrator for the Nelson County School system during the past seven years.
He is a native of Lee County where he attended the public schools. After graduation he attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and received his B.S. degree in Agricultural Education. His masters degree in Secondary Administration and a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision were earned at University of Virginia. The doctorate degree was received this past summer.
Bloomer began his teaching career at Lee-Davis High School in Hanover County as an agriculture teacher. For seven years he taught agriculture and other related subjects. During the last four years he served as the athletic director for the school. After receiving his master’s degree, he became principal of Greensville County
