can’t understand how you can expect services to continue” without granting the increase in funding requested by Chapter 10, said Rappahannock Mental Health and Retardation Board member George Muth. After hearing from Muth, Chapter 10 director Howard Leiberman . and others, the Rappahannock Supervisors voted at last Thursday’s meeting to restore $464 cut previously from the Mental Health budget.
Muth came to the meeting not only to protest the cuts made in Chapter 10’s original budget but also in response to a letter from the Supervisors objecting to the manner in which the nutrition program for the elderly began in the county.
“Does the $464 increase include funds for the nutrition program?” asked Supervisor Chairman Pete Luke.
“There never has been a request from a county anywhere in the state for funds for the nutrition program,” answered Muth. He noted that the original request for nutrition program funds denied by the Supervisors two years ago didn’t come from Chapter 10.
