I have always thought that somehow the emotions would have to' be directly involved for this kind of care to be really successful, and yet what little acquaintance I have had with this type of role in society has always indicated that the efficient caseworker-nursepsychiatrist, etc., was the one who maintained a maximum of emotional detachment from the problems at hand. But isn’t that the reason the problem exists in the first place? Because those of us who should be caring for the needy have somehow achieved an emotional detachment from the problems, insulating ourselves even from noticing
