The turnout of youngsters for the Rappahannock Athletic Association’s baseball tryouts last week totaled 165, and a number of teams have been and will be formed, according to Irvin L. Kenyon, director.
In boys hardball 12 to 14 age group there were 41 enrolled and in the 11 and under group 51 responded. Four teams have been initiated with leaders for each. Twenty three turned out in the 15-17 kge group! !'. Girls softball age 12 ind under had 35 register and three teams with coaches have been organized. In the 13-17 age girls only 15 responded, but more have shown interest.
As with any activity there will be expenses and a goal of S2000 has been set to finance the project. At present $500 has been realized. The most costly item required will be adequate insurance on the group which the $2 registration fee will help to cover. Equipment will also be needed. Bronc Busters
Qualify
The Rappahannock Bronco Busters have qualified for the regional softball tournament to be held in Winchester on July 16 and 17. Out of 20 teams in the league, the Bronc Busters placed fifth.
Team members include Gary Whalen, Steve Foster, Bernie Foster, Nelson Clatterbuck, Bobby Foster, Penny Jenkins, Jim Logan, Phul Miller, Glen Mahoney, Dale Frye, Aubrey Frye, Ronnie Williams, David Foster, Sammy Wines, Charles Jenkins, Larry Reil, Jimmy Foster and George Anderson.
