"Couldn’t we set a minimum fine?’’ asked Baldwin.
Commonwealth Attorney George Davis suggested that the Supervisors rewrite the trash ordinance, possibly establishing minimum punishment of a $250 fine or 30 days in jail.
Luke noted that from September, 1973 through Mayv 1977, the county had spent $18,230 to pick up trash off the ground. He agreed to work with Davis on rewriting the trash ordinance and to continue efforts with the Highway Department to locate containers op right-ofways.
“People also need to be educated,” added Supervisor H. B. Wood. “They’re bringing the wrong things to the dumpsters and not only that—they’re bringing the right things and putting them in the wrong place.”
