Fauquier game warden Gordon Wilkes acknowledged that he’d had some problems securing convictions under that county’s ordinance but attributed difficulties to loopholes in the wording of the law. He noted that it was currently before the Supervisors for revisions modeled after a similar Loudoun ordinance. According to Wilkes, convictions in Loudoun are running 100 per cent.
Since Loudoun’s hunter control ordinance has proved so successful, we think the Rappahannock Board should take a look at it with an eye towards adopting a copy of it here. Something should be done before the roadside cowboys climb into their pick-ups and start charging around again this year, looking for deer on posted property.
