land devoted to set-aside has to be protected from weeds, wind, and water erosion. It must have a vegetative cover or approved conservation practice established on it no later than the normal period for planting spring crops. The land cannot be left bare. Neither haying nor harvesting is permitted on land designated as set-aside for these programs. Grazing will be permitted on set-aside land except during the six principal growing months.
The sign-up period for the 1978 Wheat and Feed Grain Set-Aside Program is from March 1, 1978 to May 1, 1978.
