AGAINST TATTLETALES
State Sen. Charles L. Waddell’s (DLoudoun-Fairfax) tattletale bill, which requires state motor vehicle inspection station operators to report customers who had failed to buy county, town or city tags, was killed last week by the House Committee on Roads and Internal Navigation. Waddell’s bill, which had made it through the Senate with few problems, ran into a great deal of controversy because it forced inspection station operators to serve in a law enforcement capacity. * APPOINTEES
The Senate continues to be a nagging thorn in the side of Gov. John N. Dalton. It recently approved legislation that would provide for closer scrutiny of major gubernatorial appointments by Senate committees. BONDING ROADS
A Senate bill which requires a subdivider to secure an indemnifying bond with the county for roads in a new subdivision passed the House of Delegates last week in an 85 to 7 vote.
The bond must stay in effect until the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation takes over or approves the roads. RACING BILL
The pari-mutuel betting bill, which was reported from the Senate Committee on General Laws with amendments, will not come up for action on the Senate floor until some time Wednesday.
