Joins WTON
Morris (Mo) Donaldson of Huntly has accepted the position of News Director at WTON Radio in Staunton. The 21-year old son of Annie V. and the late Morris T. Donaldson Sr. assumed his duties on June 12th.
WTON Minuteman News is widely regarded across the state as one of Virginia’s top news operations. It won the Virginia Association of Broadcasters Outstanding News Operation in a nonmetropolitan market in 1974, and the same award from the Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters in 1974, 1976 and 1977.
Donaldson is a 1978 graduate in Communications from Virginia Tech. While a student, he was News Director of campus stations WUVT AM-FM for two years, and was a member of the national broadcasting honorary society, Alpha Epsilon Rho, and a member of the Society for Collegiate Journalists, Pi Delta Epsilon. He also finished first in his curriculum among June graduates, with a 3.57 grade point average. He attended Rappahannock County High School and was a 1974 graduate.
At WTON, Donaldson is responsible for the entire local news operation, which covers Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County.
While at Virginia Tech, he also completed internships in the newsrooms -at WFFV» FM, Middletown, Virginia, and WHSV-TV, Harrisonburg, Virginia.
