Miss Frances West Matthews of Huntly became the bride of Robert Bachelor at one o’clock Sunday, June 3, 1979, at Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, where Mrs. Bachelor’s grandparents and great-grandparents had been married. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Jennings W. Hobson III.

The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Charles B. Russell of Huntly and William R. Matthews Jr. of Front Royal. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold G. Brown of Winchester and W. Rice Matthews of Middletown. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Clyde B. Bachelor and the late Mr. Bachelor of Worthington, Ohio.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal princess gown of ivory satin. The portrait neckline, long sleeves, full skirt and chapel train were appliqued with re-embroidered French Alencon lace trimmed in seed pearls. Her fingertip mantilla of ivory silk illusion was bordered in Alencon lace. She carried a cascade of gardenias and ivy.
