Mr. and Mrs. John G. Cargill Jr. of Moneta announce the engagement of their daughter, Nancy Lea, to William W. Wilkes III, son of Mrs. William W. Wilkes Jr. of Bedford, and the late Mr. Wilkes.
Miss Cargill is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Lea of Washington. She is a graduate of James Madison University and is a speech therapist for the Campbell County School Board.
Mr. Wilkes is a graduate of Lynchburg College and the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy and is employed by Moneta Pharmacy.
The wedding will take place in August.
Anniversary
Celebrated
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Rector of Orlean were feted May 20 with a surprise celebration in honor of their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. Raymond Lyle Rector and Dorothy Dix Johnson were married May 23, 1944 by the Rev. P. Harris Chelf at the home of the bride’s parents in Sperryville.
Hostesses for the party which was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Atkins near Amissville were the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Rector, Miss Raye Rector, Miss Becky Burke and Mrs. Atkins. Approximately 75 relatives and friends attended. A bountiful money tree and other lovely gifts were received by the Rectors.

Regular services will be held Sunday, June 17, at the Mount Salem Baptist Church at 3 p.m., Rev. Gale Titchenell officiating. Services at Mount Salem are on the first and third Sundays of every month.
