Several important land use issues left over from 1978 and ‘ earlier figured in the top news stories for 1979.
After wrangling with the county over permits for the past two years. Rapp Ski Limited finally won approval to install a snowless Alpine slide at its Harris Hollow site with the aim of turning the twice-bankrupt ski area into a year-round recreatin center. Economic conditions were more successful in defeating the project than local opponents had been, however, and the property went up for sale this fall without an Alpine slide.
