Rappahannock Board
of Supervisors began
the new year by hearing Mr. Forbergh of the tax department in Richmond discuss the re-assessment for that year and Robert L. Jock Brown was sworn in as Treasurer of Rappahannock to fill the unexpired term of C. R. Wood. Brown had been deputy treasurer.
Lucy Catherine Bowie of the Rappahannock News appeared before the board to sjjbmit a request for a unified telephone system in the county so contactcould be made in all areas of Rappahi mock without charge*. Editor’s note (T< this day, requests are still being pi ide for a unified telephone system, i nd apparently we are no closer than in 1950.)
Rev. Charles Scroggins reported a hen laying an egg which measured 8 and five-eighth inches the long way and 6 and three-eighth inches in ciecumference; a New Hampshire Red from his flock. A Boy Scout program was initiated in Rappahannock with direction given by the Reverends Paul Thompson, Norman Flythe, M. E. Sligher and William Pendleton, plus Bill Lyne, George Davis, Charles Wood, Allen Johnson, Lewis Turner, Dan Link, Charles Wood, H. B. Winfrey and E. M. Jones. > , Pitts Theatre was advertising “Tarzan’s Desert Mystery” and admission was 10 and 25 cents. At the same time Warren Quality Shop had aj special January clearance for men’s suits at $16.95 to $39.95 and $16.95 top coats.
