Refunds

Undelivered

The Internal Revenue Service is trying to deliver more than 1,000 income tax refund checks for Virginians that were returned to the IRS as “undeliverable" by the U. S. Postal Service over the last four years.

Names of Rappahannock residents included on the 34 page list are Jesse Rector of Sperryville and James R. Hamlin of Washington.

According to the IRS, the most common reasons for the refund checks remaining undelivered are taxpayers who move and leave no forwarding address and information on the return itself is incomplete or incorrect.

Anyone whose name appears on the list can start the process of having their refund check reissued by calling the IRS toll-free at 1OT6-552-9500.
