Scroggins
Private services will be held for Mrs. Laura Vernon Scroggins. 81, of Washington, at Washington Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Scroggins died Friday, October 2, 1981, at Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal. Her parents were Middleton and Martha Ann Horton Settle. She was a member of Washington Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clara Woodard of Washington and Mrs. Corrie Cornell of Dansville, N. Y.; one son, Edwin Scroggins Jr. of Washington and one grandson.

Furr
Funeral services for PFC Lonnie James Furr were conducted Friday at the Moser Funeral Home, Warrenton. Burial with full military honors was at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, Jeffersonton.
PFC Furr, 22, died Monday. September 21, 1981 in the crash of a C-130 Army transport plane at Clark, Nev.
Survivors include his parents. Mr. and Mrs. William M. Furr of Rixeyville; three sisters, Mrs. Linda Marshall of Rixeyville, Mrs. Betty Wood of Elk Run and Mrs. Mary Martin of Catlett; and six brothers, Billy L. Furr of Rixeyville. Roy D. Furr of Amissville, Roger A. Furr of Warrenton, Wallace R. Furr of Canoga Park. Calif., Harrison Furr of Catlett and John Furr of Bealeton.

F&M National Corporation, which maintains branch bank offices in Flint Hill, this week announced agreement in principal an affiliation with*the Suburban Bank in Richmond.
The affiliation, subject to approval by Suburban's shareholders and regulatory authorities, calls for an exchange of 0.85 share of F&M’s Common Stock for each one share of Suburban's Common Stock. Suburban currently has 84,370 shares outstanding.
Suburban has four offices in Richmond. F&M has banking offices in Winchester and in the counties of Clarke. Frederick, Rappahannock. Shenandoah, Warren and Rockingham, plus a small loan affiliate in Page County.
As of September 25, Suburban has assets of Sll million and F&M assets totaled S218 million.
Bow Awarded
A Bear Whitetail Hunter bow was given away to Ronald Himelnight of Strasburg as part of a fund raising effort by Apple Valley Archery Club of Rappahannock County. The prize was awarded at the Comer Store in Sperryville on October 3.
