anything else. Dr. Sanderson (Stuart Eiland) is jerked up and down on Dr. Chumley’s strings and Eiland acts properly smug as the Chosen One and properly chagrined as he falls from grace.
Marie Brogan has a' masterful horrified stare with which, as the formidable Mrs. Chauvenet, she responds to Elwood. Her restraint in this small part is another of the little treasures in this production.
And what is a play without Waldron O’Connor? As in previous plays, there is a part (in this case. Judge Gaffhey) that seems to have been written just for him. O’Connor always adds a little class to any production.
Costumes by Cornelia O’Connor are deceptively simple—suggestive of the late 40’s or the 50’s, but just bland enough to be rather unobtrusive and timeless. A nice touch is Dr. Chumley’s tie—a Freudian slip buttoned under his elegant suit.
Harvey is at Wakefield School for three more performances: Oct. 9 and 10 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m.
Youth Rally
A youth rally will be held at Gid Brown Bible Church near Washington on Saturday, October 10, beginning at 6 p.m. Bob Perdue, youth pastor of Engleside Regular Baptist Church in Alexandria, will be guest speaker. There will be special singing, a nursery will be provided and transportation can be arranged by calling 675-3662. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited.
Anniversary
The officers and members of Hopewell Baptist Church in Sperryville will be celebrating the 18th anniversary of their pastor, the Rev. U.S. Brokenburr, on Sunday, October 11, at 3 p.m. at the church. The Rev. N. H. Stanton and his congregation from Ebenezer Baptist Church in Lignum will be guests. Everyone is welcome.
Twin Boys For
The Settles
Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Ray Settle of Amissville are parents of twin boys. Michael Allen and David Kane, born October 4, 1981 in Fauquier Hospital. They have another son. Jason.
Grandparents of the babies are Mr. and Mrs. C. Mitchell Green of Amissville and Mrs. Jane Settle of Rixeyville.
Contra Dance
A contra dance will be held Saturday. October 10, beginning at 8 p.m. at the Washington Community Center. Music will be provided by the Stable Band. For more information call 937-4205.
