On the Thursday before his death I asked him if it pleased God that he should die and did he feel that he was going happy; he said yes, but that he dreaded death. He handed me his knife and comb and said he wished me to keep them as long as I lived to remember him.
On Friday morning he became speechless and noticed nothing. He lived in that way until Monday morning about eight o’clock, when death came to his relief.
Here commenced my seventh trouble. His many friends and Mr. Thornhill’s family did all that was necessary for him, his funeral service was preached by A. M. Grimsley, and then he was laid bv the side of our mother.
Mv trouble now knew no bounds. My eyesight was entirely gone. 1 felt that 1 was left in this world without a friend. I bless the Lord I was mistaken; I have found friends ever since. Mr. Thornhill and wife have treated me as though 1 were their brother. I have never wanted for anything. They have supplied my wants without much recompense. 1 never shall forget them, 1 know I can never reward them for it but I hope God w ill.
I will now stop and ask the prayers of my kind readers. 1 am now 64 years old.
