marked its most successful year with a four night carnival. Although the net proceeds were not determined by the time of press the gross proceeds topped $14,000. The grand prize was a 1%2 , Plymouth which was awarded to Mrs. Frances Whorton of Woodville.
Presidents John S. Browning, First National Bank of Flint Hill and Glen Robertson, The Citizen’s Bank of Front Royal announced that the Board of Directors voted to combine the banks through a merger. The proposed merger would be consumated through an exchange of stock.
The Aileen Manufacturing Plant near Flint Hill neared completion and was ready for the steel work to begin. The building was said to be running on schedule and ready for use in October 1%2.

The compensatory
School Attendance Law
was passed unanimously by the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors at which all members were present. The most succinct point made in favor of the law was that a literate population was necessary for proper functioning of a democratic form of government and is mandatory and possible.
