Delinquent Taxes
Addressing the issue of whether to publish a list of delinquent county lax payers in the Rappahannock News, the supervisors deferred action until their next meeting when they expect an updated tabulation from the treasurer.
Baumgardner informed the board that law permits publication of the names of delinquent tax payers who are a year behind and allows the county to tile suit to sell real estate where taxes are unpaid for three years.
“We have a situation we didn’t have in years past (where) CDs are paying more than interest charged on delinquent taxes (ten percent)." Estps noted. "That's the reason why I'm in favor of publishing."
