Moff VI rit.r The Washington Town Council discussed dogs running at large in the town at its August meeting, and set a public hearing on a proposed ordinance addressing the problem. The hearing will be at the next town council meeting, Wednesday, September 8, at 7:30.
The ordinance statesi in part, that “a dog shall be deemed to be running at large while roaming, running or self-hunting off the property of its owner or custodian and not under its owner’s or custodian's immediate control. Any person who permits his dog to run at large shall be deemed to have violated the provisions of this ordinance."
The ordinance has been drafted in response to complaints by town residents and town council members that dogs loose in the town are frightening citizens.
