lhe directors of Rappahannock County’s fledgling arts group, the Rappahannock Association for Arts and the Community (RAAC) met on March 27 to review recent RAAC programs and plan future events.
RAAC’s film committee announced the purchase of two new projectors, a new screen and a new sound system for the Gay Street Theater, site of the film series which began last Saturday with Brother Sun, Sister Moon and will continue this Friday and Sunday with Missing in the newly-renovated theater in Washington. Films will be shown every week until mid-June, when a new series will begin.

Rappahannock’s popquiz team advances to the quarter-finals of the televised scholastic competition next Thursday in Harrisonburg at station WPVT. They will play Waynesboro at 8:30 that night and a win will put them in the semi-final competition.
Coach Roger Flinchum observed that the Rappahannock team is the competition’s youngest and that RCHS was the second smallest in the beginning competition, which started out with 32 entries. Now one of the top eight, a win next Thursday, April 14, will put them in the top four. Those interested in cheering for the quiz kids can tune in on channel 51.
