Rappahannock’s track squads split the 1983 season’s opening meet at Strasburg with the Panther girls downing the Rams, 66 to 46, while the Panther boys were edged out, 65 to 71.
The fast four contingent of Crystol Porter, Kathryn Davis, Raynetta Gheen and Kim Williams raced off to last year’s form from the start, winning the 880 and 440 relays.
In individual competition, the foursome piled on additional points with Porter, Davis and Gheen finishing one-two-three in the long jump, Gheen and Davis finishing one-two in the 100 and Porter taking first in the high jump and third in the 220.
