He said he tried to make it as simple as possible, using only four signs: (1) if he touched his skin after the indicator (his hat), the runner was to steal, (2) if he touched his belt, that meant he wanted a bunt, (3) if he touched his legs it was sign to hit and run, and (4) if he wanted the batter to take the pitch, he held up one finger.
