A barn and small adjoining
building on a farm near Flint Hill were struck by lightening Friday night and burned to the ground. It seems impossible that such could have happened, for an electrical storm at Thanksgiving is unheard of in this section — but A. I. Rucker and Walter Rucker, owners of the farm, are certain that it happened!* They have charred ruins and a foundation of a barn to prove it. The Rappahannock Volunteer Fire Company answered the call in a heavy rainstorm, but the building was in a complete blaze before the fire trucks could arrive.
The annual Thanksgiving dinner given by the ladies of the Sperryville Methodist church was well attended and they were well pleased with the proceeds and wish to thank the public for their co-operation.
