Cranberry Sauce
Pick over and wash a pound of cranberries. Put them in a saucepan, add water and stir in a cup of sugar. Cover and cook gently (“keep an eye on it,” advises Diana) until the berries are popped. Cool and pour into a glass or crystal dish and refrigerate covered.
ilot Buttermilk Biscuits
Blend one teaspoon each of salt and sugar, two teaspoons of baking powder and three tablespoons of shortening into two cups of unbleached flour. Add three-quarters of a cup of buttermilk all at once. Drop the batter from a spoon onto a greased cookie sheet and cook at 350 degrees for 10 or 15 minutes.
