Soon Larry LeHew, Master of Foxhounds of the Rappahannock Hunt, welcomed the visiting hunt — the Bedford Hunt, and the other visitors from far and near. He urged caution and safety and said that riders had the option of going through the gate or jumping the stone wall at that first obstacle.
The Rappahannock hounds and fox hunters were off. Many decided to jump the pole over the old stone fence as they rode past apple trees and a large silent pond. In the distance the hounds could be heard as all went off in pursuit of the elusive fox.
After a day of good sport, a champagne brunch was served. The brunch was hosted by Messrs. Larry LeHew, Peter Weslow, and John Lyle.
“The people go to all this effort,” explained Rappahannock Hunt member Sally Cunningham, “for a merry chase and never to harm a fox.”
