Lion's Club annual auction

The Rappahannock Lion’s Club will hold a benefit auction at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at the Washington Volunteer Fire Department.

Donations of new, re-newed and saleable items are needed, cash donations always acceptable but food and clothing items are not. Gift certificates for meals and services appreciated and all donations are tax deductible.

Urgently needed are additional hinds to aid in the increase of legitimate requests for sight and hearing assistance in the Rappahannock County community. '

Parent's group forming

Are you the parent of a child with a learning disability? If you so, are you interested in joining a support group of parents to exchange ideas and discuss current information from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, March 7. For location and more information call Kay Robertson 9374608.

Marketing conference

A “Profitable Crafts Marketing Conference” will be held March 20 at Virginia State University in Petersburg. It is sponsored by the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service in cooperation with the Tennessee Valley Authority. This will be the first statewide conference to address the needs of artisans.

On March 19, preceding the conference, the first annual meeting of the Virginia Artisans Business Development Association (VABDA) will be held at VSU. Extension has played a significant role in the development of VABDA, now 143 members strong. The purpose of the conference is to meet the business management needs of many artisans who need assistance in developing a profitable business venture.
