Three grand champions were recognized. The impressive work displayed by Mrs. Mulligan’s entire thin! grade class won them the Best Exploratory Division Classroom Award. Their prize is a modular “ant city.” Mrs. Mulligan was last seen with a pleased but worried expression!
The Overall Best Project, Junior Division, Award went to Julie Bankston for her investigation of batteries. The Overall Best Project, Senior Division, Award went to Angela Pullen for her investigation of African violets. Judges complimented the clean design of the experiments of both of these young scientists.
Junior Division category winners are as follows: In the combined category of zoology/design Jim Clark took first place (home weather predictor), second went to Van Carney (Which bridge?), third to Joe Moore (lungs).
In electrical engineering, first was Julie Bankston (battery comparison), second Serena Waddell (electromagnetism), third Ashley Van Diver (fruit making electricity).
