Building a stairway and handrail as well as moving some gas tanks a few feet were both passed unanimously by the ARB. According to board chairman Donna Kevis, the application also mentioned a footpath, but she said the ARB could not determine exactly what was being asked for, and as Mrs. Weinberg was not present, that part of the application was not acted upon.

In other business, the ARB gave Newbill Miller permission to remove a chestnut fence that immediately surrounds his home and for Mr. O’Connell to paint shuttfers, trim and clapboard on the old Byrd Jones house on Gay Street cream, light green and tea.

The ARB was also updated on the status of town streetlights. Potomac Edison has now agreed to allow the town to pick a mutually agreeable alternative to the power company’s fixture. The Lighting Committee has chosen its fixture, as well as a back-up.
