PTO spring conference

The PTO spring conference will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29 at the Rappahannock Elementary School gym. One topic for discussion is school expansion. Parents, teachers and students are welcome.

'Paperwork' at Middle Street

Paperwork, a juried group exhibition of works on and of paper, opens with a reception at the Middle Street Gallery in Washington, 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29. The show runs through March 28.

The Middle Street Gallery invites all interested artists to submit slides for its May show, “Earth, Air, Fire and Water: The Elements.”

All media and formats, including outdoor sculpture and installations, are eligible. The theme is works whose content addresses the alchemy of the creative process. The deadline for entries is 6 p.m. April 17.

Meditation scheduled

Fashion show planned

The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will present their annual fashion show at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 22 at the Rappahannock Elementary School. This year’s show “A Blue Ridge Springtime" will benefit the Rappahannock County Park and the Woman’s Club annual scholarship fund. Tickets may be purchased at the door or from any member.

Tree pruning workshop

Rappahannock forester and arborist Lyt Wood will present a workshop on “The Art of Pruning,” 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29 at the Virginia State Arboretum.

Participants will be given an introduction to pruning all kinds of trees, and participants will have the opportunity to prune mature apple trees.
