On Friday and Saturday, March 11 and 12, the Rappahannock County High School band with twenty-six other school bands from throughout the region participated in the District IX Band Festival.

They performed two rehearsed musical pieces and on one unrehearsed work by sightreading.

The students were critiqued with a rating system of “I to V” with “I” being the highest possible rating.

The twenty-five members RCHS Band began with a “warm-up march” entitled “The Challenger” by John Kinyon. Their competitive selections were “Two Sketches for Band” by John Edmondson and “White River Canyon” by John Higgins.
