Community
Thanked
To the Editor:
Spring Mountain School was formed in 1987 to provide a service for our community, that is, to offer quality education to our children.
In return, our school has always j been directly dependent on the support of that community. Our Waldorf-based curriculum provides our children with a unique and caring educational experience reflecting the unique and caring nature of our community and Rappahannock County.
We scheduled our first annual fundraising auction. We sent our requests for donations to our friends and neighbors and their response was tremendous.
Items to be auctioned literally poured in right up to Saturday afternoon including the beautiful antique furniture from Mary Simmons and the wonderful beach house of Dianna and Lee Bird.
Our parents banded together to organize, publicize, decorate and provide food for the event.
The Board of Directors heartily thanks all those involved, both contributors and volunteers, and sends a special thank you to Stella Cadwalader and Becky Parrish for all the long hours and hard work it took to make the evening a success.
It is always a joy to invite the community into our school and the turnout Satuday night was everything we had hoped for. We easily reached our goal of $10,000 enabling our teachers to further enrich their education and the school to begin a scholarship fund.
So we extend a warm thank you to all of our community and promise you to use your support to continue offering the best education to our children we can. Thank you.

People Want
Congressmen
To Work
To the Editor:
The people of the United States are entitled to have their Congress do the work we hired them for. We need jobs, health-care reform, campaign reform, welfare reform and a tough and smart crime bill. Republicans in Congress seem to want to spend their time and energy complaining about President and Mrs. Clinton. They should get on with the nation’s business or, get out of the way.
