When the bells ring at noon this 4th of July, they will signal the beginning of an afternoon of patrirotlcr speeches, music, song and LK<japce. Jtgre .iSfcjtLv^U be a parade with a marching band and at dark* fireworks.
This year’s celebration is extra special because the Town of Washington also is celebrating the 200th anniversary of its founding. The main speech commemorating this even will be given by retired Judge Rayner V. Snead followed by the presentation by Mayor Stewart Willis of a tree to be planted at the town hall as part of the anniversary celebration.
In addition to patriotic singing and speeches between noon and 1 p.m., there also may be political speeches.
From 1 to 3 p.m., several musical groups will be performing in front of the courthouse including Liz Russell and Domel Pratt, the Eclectics and Scratch Clanagan and his gospel music.
