Florence Gardner
Florence Hamilton Gardner, wife of Retired Admiral Josef M. Gardner, died June 19 at her home near Flint Hill.
Mrs. Gardner was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John McMillan Hamilton of Ossining, New York and a decedent of Jacob Coutant, a Hugenot family of New York City.
Mrs. Gardner is survived by her husband and three children by previous marriage, Suzanna White Talbot, James Charles White II, and David Francis White and seven grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 27 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington.
Burial will be at the US Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., at a later date. Burial will be private.
Donations in her memory may be made to the church or the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Flint Hill.
Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper is in charge of the arrangements.
Diane Welch
Diane Lynn Welch, 40, of Berryville, died Monday, June 17 at the Winchester Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Enders and Shirley Funeral Home in Berryville by the Rev. Kathleen A. Ross.
Burial was at Green Hill Cemetery in Berryville.
Mrs. Welch was born May 10, 1956, in Winchester, daughter of. Harrison “Harry” Enock Newlin' of Winchester and Arvella S. Newlin of Berryville.
She was a member of Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church and Charles Town Moose Lodge.
Surviving with her parents are her husband, John Riley Welch; a son, Johnny R. Welch of The Plains; two daughters, Mama Welch and Johnna Welch, both of Berryville; a brother, Harry Allen Newlin of Sperryville and 14 grandchildren.
