.Home in Culpeper, 7 to 9 p.m. A wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.;

Funeral services will be held at St.. Peter’s Catholic Church in Washington on Thursday, at 1 p.m. Internment will be at Washington Masonic Cemetery immediately following the service.

George Burke (Jake) Baldwin was born Sept. 1, 1931, to Oscar and Elizabeth Baldwin and was a native of Rappahannock. He had three brothers and a sister, and is survived by Charles (Buck) Baldwin of Slate Mills. He left his home in 1952 to proudly serve his country as an Army Sargent in the Medical unit during the Korean War.

Shortly after his return to the United States, he began his career with United Insurance Company of America as a sales agent. Mr. Baldwin provided 40 years of dedicated service to United. During his 40 years of service, he served as District Manager overseeing seven districts, Washington D.C., Norfolk, Louisville, KY, Greenvile, S.C., Richmond, Bluefield WVA, Durham, N.C. _, He received numerous awards, the most honorable being the O.T. Hogan Award on two occasions in 1972, the President’s Cabiitent in 1994, seven President’s Conferences and two quarterly awards of.excellence in 1990 and 1991.

At the time'of his death, he Was the leading Senior District Manager in North Carolina for the first quarter of 1996.‘ *

■ During his years of dedication to - ' United Insurance, he met his^wife, . Helen Baldwin-of Washington D C. The couple was married for 39 years arid raised thr$£ daughters, Theresa, Patricia and Kelly. Mr. Baldwin’s love and commitment to his wife and children grew ^s he was blessed with the recent births of his two granddaughters, Paytbn'and Emily.
