Fred Myers attended the surprise birthday party last Sunday at Mountain Run Lake, honoring his grandmother, Mrs. Elsie Thompson on her 90th year.
Happy birthday to my brother, Ray Frazier, Jr. who celebrates his day on Saturday; my niece Brenda Frazier, whose day is July 1st and to a cute little girl of “Our Farm” who adds another year on July 27 Tuesday none other than Sarah Lynn Hetzer.
Camp meetings are in progress this week through Sunday, each evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Camp grounds near Massanova Church with Rev. Don Rich as speaker.
The Salem Fire Hall was the setting for the Salem Community “Singing and Picking Party”; the event was from 7 until 10 p.m. Friday and a good time reported by all present.
Also down Salem Way VacationBible School is in progress this week through Thursday with commencement exercises scheduled for Friday, the 28th at 7 p.m. Invitation is extended to area children.
Among winners of scholarships and awards at the Culpeper County High School Commencement, from our area were Miss Heather Will, Culpeper High School academic Boosters Club Award and the Salem Ruritan Club award went to Matt Keller.
Congratulations to Noah Curtis, seven years old, who has written a book entitled “At Camp” and has been awarded a scholarship so he can attend the camp session at Lignum Child help camp again this year. Young Curtis is the grandson of Mrs. Virgie Leake and great-grandson of Mrs. Bessie Atkins of Sperryville.
Jennifer Peregory was a Thursday overnight guest in the Johnny Bragg home.
Alicia Dugas down Reva Way will be working during the summer with the legislative staff of Delegate Butch Davies in his Culpeper office.
Condolences go out to the family of Mrs. Eleanor Hudson who passed away Sunday, June 16. She was the widow of Dick Hudson, former natives here in Boston.
Announcement has been made of • the engagement of Miss Sandra Elizabeth Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Grant, here in Boston and Charles Brown of Remington to Douglas Keyser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Keyser of Culpeper the weeding will take place in August.
Every Friday is Volunteer Day for the Windmore Foundation at The Windmore Cultural Center in Griffmsburg. Painting, cleaning, filing and reorganizing aire needed to be done, so please wear appropriate clothing, for other information call 547-2555.
