exhibition. Always a surrealist, Kenny shows us an old, gnarled tree trunk, like a Greek myth in reverse, turning into a conventional brown ‘ skinned beauty shielding herself under a leafy parasol. She stands in a misty forest and at her “feet” are identifiable spring flowers. This is the most unified and uncomplicated vision of his I have seen.
Ree Nancarrow, from Denali Park, Alaska, submitted a quilted picture of “mountains.” While its description just says “fabric quilt,” it looks as if it has been painted with a rainbow of colors and suggests movement — water and a shimmering sky — contrasting with a snow-covered peaked mountains. An unusual and beautiful work of art.
Barbara Sherwood’s vivid blues, greens and yellows fairly light up the rooms where two of her large pictures hang. With “Ocean and Pool” she has designed a dynamic composition in oils that kept my eyes roving over and over the canvas.
