The “Friends of the Rappahannock,” the Ragged Mountain Resource Center and • the Piedmont Environmental i Council are in the process of organizing citizen committees •in the upper Rappahannock .tributaries to help increase ‘awareness of water quality and -Quantity in the region. > These committees are vol- untary, and will focus primarily on “hands-on” educational ^programs such as streambank ’.tree plantings, water monitorwing of macro-invertebrates, ‘hikes, canoe trips, guest educators for schools and libraries, field trips to farms, marinas and floodplains, and anything that communities as a whole . wish to work together on ‘regarding the invaluable • shared resource of water.
