He said he has had more experience with trucks, especially four-wheel-drive ones, and they sell well in Rappahannock. He prefers Ford trucks and the other domestic makes. As for cars, he said he likes the reliability of foreign models, especially Honda.
His success at making good choices at auctions has a lot to do with advice he got from friends who have been in the business much longer. He is modest about his knowledge of cars, and says his expertise is in electric motors.
Boyce, 26, says he’s not trying to make a living on the car business. His “real job” is at Mid State Electric where he has worked since it opened in 1991. The company employs 20 people in refurbishing industrial motors.
Raised in Amissville, he now lives near Washington with his wife Cindy and 7year-old son Brandon.
