Financial Aid workshop set
To assist families of college bound students identify sources of financial aid to help pay for college expenses, Rappahannock County High School will be hosting a financial aid workshop on Monday, Jan. 25 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the high school library. College bound seniors and their parents are strongly encouraged to attend. The speaker for the program will be Ms. Nancy Bragg, Financial Aid Director at Shenandoah University. Ms. Bragg will “walk” parents and students through the Federal Financial Aid form.
James Futrell, RCHS Director of Guidance, will present information about local scholarships. The scholar- ’ ships range from $100 up to several thousand dollars within a four year period.
Headwaters to sponsor presentation ,.
The entire community is invited to a presentation Thursday, Jan. 28 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at th6’ Rappahannock County High School auditorium. The pre^sentation will be on “Learning about Learning: How Parients and Community Members Can Recognize and Support High Quality Learning at School and at Home” by nationally known speaker, educator and consultant, Mike Rutherford. This will be a dynamic and informative' evening for parents, students (high school and up), and all individuals interested in how to learn for the greatest impact on one’s life. Girl Scout cookie time again
The Rappahannock Girl Scouts are currently taking orders for their annual cookie sale. Orders will be taken, until Feb. 1. You may order from any troop member or contact Michele Herbert at 937-5901. Cost is $3 per box.
4-H Share-the-Fun contest slated
The 4-H Share-the-Fun talent show will be held Friday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock High School auditorium. In case of public school closing or bad weather conditions, the show will be canceled. For further information call the Rappahannock Extension Office at 675-3619.
GED testing planned
If you would like to take the GED test, register at your county school board office. The five-part test is offered every second Friday evening and Saturday morning of the month, with your attendance being recommended for both sessions. Testing on Friday is from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The cost for taking the GED test is $35. Upon successful completion a State of Virginia diploma will be issued in your name. Additional, information may be obtained by calling 825-0476 and ask-' ing for Malcolm Davis, GED Examiner.
