In other business, Willis opened the discussion to public comment when the proposed budget was introduced. He summarized the changes by saying the projected revenue to the town from the meals and lodging tax was projected to be $156,000, an increase of $12,500.
Projected expenses also increased for town promotions, salaries and electricity, leading Diane Bruce to question the $19,100 increase in employee expenses. She asked specifically about the town’s assistant Kaye Kohler.
Willis said she is paid $12 an hour for up to a 30hour-week.
Lynch commented on the 10 percent increase in projected town expenses. The budget was $14,000 a decade ago and now is more than $200,000. “It’s incredible what’s happened,” he said. Only Lynch voted against the proposed budget.
